Pica artery supplies7/22/2023 ![]() PICA has a complicated looping course as it swings out around the inferior olives, and runs along the dorsal lateral surface of the medulla before turning laterally and supplying the inferior surface of the cerebellum. From its lateral side each vertebral gives off a variable branch, the posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA). The midline anterior spinal artery, formed from the fusion of medial branches from each vertebral, supplies part of the central medulla (as well as much of the upper cervical cord). The blood supply of the medulla is derived from the two vertebral arteries. Pontine lacunar infarcts may also damage the corticospinal tracts. Large pontine hemorrhages classically involve the corticospinal tracts and reticular formation bilaterally. dorsolateral parts of the brainstem are supplied by direct circumferential branchesof the vertebral or basilar arteries, or by branches of one of the major 'cerebellar' vessels as they curve around the brainstem on their way to the part of the cerebellum they supply.Ĭlinical Note: Like the lenticulostriate branches of MCA, the paramedian vessels supplying the medial parts of the brainstem are at risk for hypertensive damage, particularly in the pons.medial parts of the brainstem as far dorsal as the ventricle are supplied by long, slender penetrating branches called the paramedian branches.Patients whom you will encounter may present with fragments or combinations of syndromes.īrainstem arteries in the medulla, pons and midbrain have similar patterns of distribution: This means that clinical syndromes produced by occlusion of a particular vessel are also variable. Perhaps the most important thing to recognize about the brainstem's blood supply is just how variable the vessels can be in size and position, but still provide adequate perfusion. The vertebral and basilar arteries supply the brainstem and cerebellum. The artery of Adamkiewicz is one of the most important radicular arteries, and in some individuals it may provide the entire arterial supply for the lower two-thirds of the spinal cord. There is a great deal of variability in this pattern. For lower parts of the cord, the spinal arteries are reinforced by radicular arteries that are branches of the thoracic and abdominal aorta. ![]() The posterior spinal arteries and the two anterior spinal arteries, which fuse to form a single midline vessel, supply the upper cervical cord. Diagrams The vertebral arteries help to supply the spinal cord ![]() Basic r studio commands7/22/2023 ![]() ![]() Throughout the book, Iâll put exercises in boxes, like the one just mentioned. Iâll avoid showing >s and s unless I want you to look at them. Iâll use a single hashtag to add my own comments and a double hashtag, #, to display the results of code. The hashtag is known as the commenting symbol in R.įor the remainder of the book, Iâll use hashtags to display the output of R code. Humans will be able to read the comments, but your computer will pass over them. This makes hashtags very useful for adding comments and annotations to your code. R treats the hashtag character, #, in a special way R will not run anything that follows a hashtag on a line. This will make the code easier to copy and paste if you want to put it in your own console. For example, you could do some basic arithmetic: 2 * 3 # 6 4 - 1 # 3 6 / ( 4 - 1 ) # 2ĭid you notice something different about this code? Iâve left out the >âs and âs. Once you get the hang of the command line, you can easily do anything in R that you would do with a calculator. You can then try a different command at the next prompt: > 3 % 5 Error: unexpected input in "3 % 5 " > R is just telling you that your computer couldnât understand or do what you asked it to do. If you ever see an error message, donât panic. If you type a command that R doesnât recognize, R will return an error message. Either finish the command or hit Escape to start over: > 5 - + + 1 4 If you type an incomplete command and press Enter, R will display a + prompt, which means it is waiting for you to type the rest of your command. R is a dynamic programming language, which means R automatically interprets your code as you run it. If youâve programmed in such a language before, you may wonder whether you have to compile your R code before you can use it. ![]() In some languages, like C, Java, and FORTRAN, you have to compile your human-readable code into machine-readable code (often 1s and 0s) before you can run it. These numbers just mean that the second line begins with the 14th value in the result, and the third line begins with the 25th value. Notice that new bracketed numbers appear at the start of the second and third lines of output. For example, the command 100:130 returns 31 values it creates a sequence of integers from 100 to 130. Some commands return more than one value, and their results may fill up multiple lines. R is just letting you know that this line begins with the first value in your result. Youâll notice that a appears next to your result. For example, if you type 1 + 1 and hit Enter, RStudio will display: > 1 + 1 2 > Then RStudio displays a fresh prompt for your next command. When you type a command at the prompt and hit Enter, your computer executes the command and shows you the results. The line you type it into is called the command line. The code you type is called a command, because it will command your computer to do something for you. ![]() You type R code into the bottom line of the RStudio console pane and then click Enter to run it. The appendix will give you an overview of the two free tools and tell you how to download them. If you do not yet have R and RStudio intalled on your computerâor do not know what I am talking aboutâvisit Appendix A. Letâs work on saving these numbers first and then consider a method for ârollingâ our die. You can capture the essential characteristics of a die by saving the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 as a group of values in your computerâs memory. Which information should you save? In general, a die has six important pieces of information: when you roll a die, it can only result in one of six numbers: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. You cannot place a physical object, like a die, into a computer (well, not without unscrewing some screws), but you can save information about the object in your computerâs memory. To simulate a pair of dice, you will have to distill each die into its essential features. Donât worry if youâve never programmed before the chapter will teach you everything you need to know. In it, you will build a pair of virtual dice that you can use to generate random numbers. This chapter provides a broad overview of the R language that will get you programming right away. ![]() Civilization revolution online7/22/2023 ![]() We'll find out when it releases on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on June 3. says no more content updates for online brawler Bleeding Edge The Double A Team A breezy summer fling with Civilization Revolution. While you may feel plugged in and connected while browsing social media or checking the latest headline, losing focus of the immediate world around you can lead to a feeling of disconnect between yourself and the real world. The journey on a whole knits together into something remarkable and, in a refreshing turn, hopeful. While unique, functioning like massive predators, the hordes aren’t the core reason to play Days Gone. Sadly, that’s part of why the marketing opted to emphasize, of all things, the freaker hordes you fight. So as a result, however brilliantly constructed Days Gone might be, it comes off as incredibly generic and predictable on the surface. Plus, the narrative begins as a slow burn to allow room to breathe, which results in a wealth of story but also a long build-up to the real main threat that you don’t even see coming until far later in the campaign.
